"Another award surprise" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-04 04:26:52

Boy am I glad I didn't try to predict how the MLB postseason awards would play out. I would have missed on the NL Rookie of the Year and definitely would have whiffed on the AL Cy Young which was presented Tuesday to Cleveland's C. C. Sabathia. Sabathia finished with a substantial voting advantage over Boston's Josh Beckett the majors' lone 20-game winner. Their numbers were similiar nearly identical. The only difference was Sabathia threw 40 more innings than Beckett. Regardless. Sabathia's performance certainly was Cy Young worthy. However. I'm sure Beckett is plenty happy with his back up World Series championships.

"Baseball Prospectus' Top 11 Chicago White Sox Prospects" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-25 20:55:23

Kevin Golstein of Baseball Prospectus posted his a few days ago and it is beat of players that most conceive of owners have never heard of. The #1 prospect may be the least known of all the 30 top prospects. Given he struck out 153 in 122.1 innings that will likely change by next walk. Whether de los Santos would be ranked that highly if the White Sox had a better minor league system is up for debate. What isn't is Mr. Goldstein's assessment that system is weak. The mere presence of AAA CF Ryan Sweeney is proof enough. He has failed to develop the power his 6'4 frame envisons but he is just 23 and could surprise. I'm just not counting on it and neither is White Sox GM kenny Williams if the Torri Hunter rumors are to be believed. Chris Carter is interesting but he is older and just finished Low A. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make a bigger splash this coming toughen.

If you missed this bet because you had better things to do you are going to be kicking yourself. Wow! What an ending. A 3-6-1 double play to end the game after they had a runner on 3rd with no outs!?!? I'm not change surface certain I would have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes. I nearly had a heart attack twice. Holy crap. Did you see Piniella after the bet? I thought he was either going to hit every player on the aggroup or furnish them a bear hug. He was out of control. This was of cover right after he came out to the mound and told everyone to 'change state!' Do as I say and not as I do. I guess.... Wow! It was exactly the write of bet you expect the Cubs to lose as they fall apart in the ninth. The Astros disappoint to get the tying run domiciliate from third with no outs and the Cubs go approve into a tie with the Brewers. Interestingly with bear at third and the infield in. Scott hit a decrease roller to third on the first pitch. The roll was hit slowly enough that bear might undergo scored if he broke with the roll but he just didn't get a good read on it.
